The Israeli occupation forces have committed a new massacre in the al-Zaytoun neighborhood on Friday, east of Gaza City, killing 11 members of the Abu Shaaban family. The victims, who were targeted while traveling in a civilian vehicle, included seven children and two women.
Field sources reported that all the passengers in the targeted vehicle were from the same family. The attack highlights the continuing policy of targeting civilians, even as the ceasefire agreement remains officially in effect.
Children and women among the martyrs
The vehicle, struck in broad daylight, carried innocent civilians attempting to return to their homes in Gaza City. The deliberate targeting resulted in the loss of seven children and two women, further deepening the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
Sources on the ground confirmed that the attack on the Abu Shaaban family is part of a broader pattern of Israeli ceasefire violations. Despite the declared truce, occupation forces have repeatedly targeted civilian areas, raising doubts about the credibility of the ceasefire implementation.
Drone strike injures woman in Khan Younis
In a separate incident, Al Mayadeen’s correspondent in the Gaza Strip reported that a woman was injured by Israeli drone fire in the town of Abasan al-Jadida, east of Khan Yunis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip. The correspondent emphasized that such violations persist, underlining the fragile nature of the ceasefire.
As of last Wednesday, the Gaza Center for Human Rights confirmed that the Israeli occupation army had committed at least 36 ceasefire violations in the Gaza Strip. The organization described the number as a preliminary toll that continues to rise daily amid escalating Israeli aggression.
Hamas says committed to ceasefire, our arms ‘legitimate, national’
Hamas remains committed to the Gaza ceasefire agreement, despite the continuous violations by the Israeli occupation, said Hamas Political Bureau member Ghazi Hamad on Friday, noting that the Palestinian Resistance movement is fulfilling its commitments and is focused on concluding the initial phase of the deal as planned.
In a statement made to Al Mayadeen, Hamad asserted that the occupation is threatening to use force, which is "typical of it," pointing out that its failure to achieve its objectives in the Gaza Strip explains its "savage behavior".
Regarding the issue of the captives' bodies, the senior Hamas official stated that it is a complex matter due to the altered landscape of Gaza and the destruction of numerous sites, which makes recovering the remaining bodies a process that requires both time and specialized equipment and machinery. He said that the mediators have been informed of these obstacles and have "understood our position."
