Biden complacent with Israeli crimes because of his interests: FT

US President Joe Biden is okay-ing Israeli crimes in Gaza and much more from Netanyahu because he does not want to jeopardize his interests.

The United States was not going to go against the Israeli occupation in light of its aggression on Gaza, Aaron David Miller wrote in The Financial Times, as the Biden administration is offering aid to the Israeli occupation on both the military and media fronts.

The Biden administration has been unequivocally supportive of the Israeli occupation since day one, dispatching aircraft carriers to the Eastern Mediterranean and sending tens of billions of dollars to arm its ally.

US President Joe Biden is giving his ally, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, too much wiggle room, as Washington's interests in the Middle East are heavily reliant on "Israel", and the premier knows that. Biden is offering aid to Netanyahu at a time of war no matter the cost, as he cannot take risks on "Israel", according to the report.

Interests, interests, interests

According to the Financial Times, Biden is ignoring all that Netanyahu is doing not out of thin air, for as the Middle East makes its way back to the top of the US' list of priorities, Biden cannot be bothered with human rights or trying to keep his close ally in check, as any disputes with him would land him in quite a pickle if he seeks to bolster US interests in the region.

Biden even took a step back on calling Saudi Arabia a "pariah" and went on to mediate a normalization agreement between the two parties that is yet to come to fruition because of the Palestinian Resistance's Operation Al-Aqsa Flood that took the region by storm.

However, Miller claims that Biden has actually been active, rather than passive, when it came to Gaza and the Israeli onslaught there. According to the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace senior fellow, the Biden administration has been curbing the Israeli occupation on numerous fronts, including when it comes to carrying out a pre-emptive strike on Lebanon, the Qatari-mediated efforts to free captives, and allowing for humanitarian aid to make its way into Gaza through the Rafah border crossing with Egypt.

According to FT, Biden had to step in to prevent the Israeli occupation from violating international law and the laws of war. That is to say that the killing of nearly 10,000 civilians, and the bombing of hospitals, schools, residential areas, and places of worship, all of which are a violation of international law, come with Biden pressing "Israel" not to do that.

Clinging to false hope

Miller also cited a US State Department spokesperson as saying that Secretary Antony Blinken expected that the Israeli occupation would be "in full compliance with international humanitarian law and the laws of war."

At the end of the day, "Israel" cannot be expected to act according to how the US would like them to, with a clear indication of that being that Israeli Security Minister Yoav Gallant said during an address, with his premier next to him, that while the Israeli occupation would listen to their allies, it would ultimately only do what is right for them.

Miller explained that Netanyahu and Biden were both "in a bind" in terms of preventing the deaths of Palestinian civilians in Gaza. "There seems to be no way out," he underlined.

According to CNN, top Biden administration officials have reportedly warned "Israel" that there is only a limited window of time to accomplish its goal of "eradicating Hamas" from Gaza, as it will become more difficult to sustain the aggression on the Gaza strip, due to the international outcry.

'Israel's' allies shying away from unconditional support

The death toll has surpassed 9,000 innocent Palestinians, and as hundreds of thousands have protested globally and called for a ceasefire, it seems it has become increasingly difficult for Western nations to turn a blind eye to the atrocities committed.

After meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday, Blinken expressed that “We need to do more to protect Palestinian civilians,” adding that he had provided “advice that only the best of friends can offer” on how the occupation could protect civilians.

It is noteworthy that "Israel" just yesterday bombed an ambulance convoy departing from Al-Shifa Hospital, heading to the Rafah border crossing.
