Moscow shares Washington’s stance that a direct military clash between the U.S. and Russia must be avoided, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Friday.
In a statement, the foreign minister contended that "If the Europeans are hysterically demanding that Ukraine be dragged into NATO and prepared for war with Russia, then [US Secretary of State] Marco Rubio recently confirmed a responsible approach, clearly stating that a direct military confrontation between the United States and Russia should never be allowed. We fully agree with this."
Medvedev responds to Trump ultimatum: 'A threat and a step toward war'
US President Donald Trump's ultimatums to Russia are misguided, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev stated on X, warning that such actions could have greater domestic repercussions for Trump than he anticipates.
"Trump's playing the ultimatum game with Russia: 50 days or 10… He should remember 2 things: 1. Russia isn't Israel or even Iran. 2. Each new ultimatum is a threat and a step towards war," Medvedev said in his post on X.
Trump announced on Monday his intention to revoke the initial 50-day deadline for Russia and Ukraine to negotiate a deal, warning that if no agreement is reached within 10 to 12 days, he will impose 100% tariffs against Russia and its trading allies.
"Each new ultimatum is a threat and a step towards war. Not between Russia and Ukraine, but with his own country," Medvedev said, warning Trump.
