DPRK says Raisi's death 'great loss' as condolences to Iran continue
Jodan, Turkey, the DPRK, and Germany have extended their sympathies to Iran amid the loss of its top officials.
DPRK Leader Kim Jong Un extended on Tuesday his sincerest condolences to the Iranian nation and the people "who strive for independence all around the world", following the passing of President Ebrahim Raisi and his fellow companions, stressing that his death was a "great loss".
Raisi was “an outstanding statesman and a close friend" of the North Korean people, the DPRK chief said, adding that Raisi's death "is a great loss to the fraternal Iranian people and the world people aspiring after independence and justice.”
Jordan
The Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi also expressed his sympathies during a phone call with Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani, revisiting the constructive cooperation he built with the late Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and stressing Jordan's determination to continue consultations with Iran to maintain regional peace and stability.
Al-Safadi then discussed the developments in occupied Palestine, emphasizing his country's diplomatic endeavors to stop the war and end the genocide in Gaza.
In turn, Bagheri Kani expressed special importance to strengthening bilateral ties with Jordan, and the necessitated the cooperation with Islamic nations to end the war on Gaza, without any condition or limitation, and with the support of the Palestinian people.
Turkey
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan also extended his condolences in a phone call with Bagheri Kani. He affirmed that Turkey and Iran are "friends in tough times", stressing that the Turkish people and government "stand with Iran during these difficult and painful circumstances."
Fidan will also be attending President Raisi, Minister Amir-Abdollahian, and their companions' funeral in Iran on Wednesday on behalf of Turkey.
Moreover, Fedan extended an invitation to Iran's Acting FM to participate in an emergency session of the D8 foreign ministers regarding the genocide in Gaza. Bagheri Kani noted that Iran will continue cooperating with Turkey to end the Israeli genocide and support the people of Palestine.
Germany
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz additionally offered his condolences to the Iranian nation amid their loss.
Since the passing of Iran's top officials struck the world, governments and international forums have expressed their sympathies, condolences, and solidarity with Iran.
Funeral procession of Raisi, companions begins
The city of Tabriz, the capital of Iran's East Azerbaijan Province, bid farewell on Tuesday to President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and their companions.
At the first funeral stop, hundreds of thousands of Iranians gathered to bid farewell to the bodies of the deceased.
Following Tabriz, the bodies will be taken to Qom, then to the capital, Tehran, before reaching their final destination in Mashhad. There, they will be laid to rest next to the shrine of Imam Ali Ibn Mousa al-Rida.
Al Mayadeen’s correspondent conveyed the prevailing atmosphere of sorrow in Mashhad and other Iranian cities and provinces. She confirmed that testimonials from the people corroborate the late Iranian president's dedication to the country's youth and prospects, his closeness to the Iranian populace, and notably his visits to engage with them and hear their demands.
