Palestinian media reported that al-Awfi was assassinated by the Israeli occupation forces, adding that he was martyred after a three-hour armed confrontation with occupation forces in Tulkarm.

The reports added that the occupation forces sieged the leader in his house for the entire duration of the battle, during which they deployed heavy reinforcements, including hundreds of soldiers, armored military vehicles, and drones.

Israeli media admitted that an occupation soldier was seriously injured in the confrontations in Tulkarm.

On their part, the Detainees and Ex-Detainess Affairs Committee and the Palestinian Prisoners Club announced on Sunday evening that the Israeli occupation has detained at least 15 citizens from the occupied West Bank in the past 24 hours, including former prisoners.

The arrests were distributed across the governorates of Ramallah, Areeha, Nablus, Beit Lahm, al-Khalil, and Tulkarm.

This brings the total number of Palestinians detained by the occupation since October 7 to more than 7,075.
