During a memorial service for martyrs held at the Tehran Prayer Hall, Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, Chief of Staff of Iran's Armed Forces, in an interview with Al Mayadeen, asserted Iran's victory over "Israel" and the United States, vowing harsh retaliation against any future actions by the occupation.
"All evidence, both obvious and hidden, points to Israel facing a humiliating defeat at the hands of Iran," Maj. Gen. Mousavi stated,
"The real aim of Iran's enemies was to weaken the Islamic Republic's system and fragment the country, the nuclear issue was just a pretext," the Iranian Chief of Staff declared, adding that "Israel" and the United States were handed a defeat due to the strength of the Iranian people and armed forces.
The Major General highlighted that "The Israelis were forced to request a ceasefire in order to reorganize their affairs, hoping they might later be able to take some action," emphasizing that "Israel" will face a harsh retaliation should they "make another mistake".
Mousavi emphasized that "Should the war prolong and enter a new stage, Israel will encounter Iranian military strengths that have remained undeployed so far."
"Supporting Palestine and the Palestinian people is a core principle of the Islamic Republic of Iran," Iran's Major General stated, emphasizing that "Iran will never compromise on its principles."
Major General Mousavi's statements echo those of senior Ali Larijani, who emphasized that "Israel" and the United States misunderstood Iran as a whole in their planning for the war.
'Israel' failed to topple Iran: Larijani
Ali Larijani, senior advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, stated that the Israeli regime and the United States conspired to overthrow the Iranian government within less than a week. He said that "Israel" and the US were convinced they could dismantle the Islamic Republic in just five or six days, and Netanyahu's primary objective was to force the Iranian people into submission.
Larijani further explained that the conspiracy involved more than just attacks aimed at Iran's leadership, revealing that after plotting to eliminate the heads of the three branches of government, Israel had plans to escalate their efforts by assassinating the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Sayyed Ali Khamenei.
The senior advisor further stressed that this scheme demonstrated a fundamental misjudgment of Iran's resilience, noting that "The Zionist enemy and the United States failed to grasp the culture and historical depth of the Iranian people."
Larijani pointed to a critical shift in the confrontation that occurred on Saturday, June 21, when third-party mediators stepped in, explaining that "They realized Israel had reached a dead end." He noted that within two days, by Monday, June 23, Tel Aviv was desperately seeking a way to impose a ceasefire.
