Iran’s FM hails Tehran-Doha ties as 'very good', talks 'constructive'
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian visits Doha, Qatar, and meets with Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and emphasizes the importance of cooperation to end Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.
Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, currently visiting Qatar, engaged in "constructive" discussions with the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Ties between Iran and Qatar are "very good", Amir-Abdollahian said, stressing that the full implementation of agreements would bolster the already amicable and fraternal relationship between the two.
The top Iranian diplomat expressed appreciation to Qatar for its mediation and benevolent role in specific Iranian-related cases, underscoring the constructive collaboration between the two nations on regional and global matters. Amir-Abdollahian also noted that such bilateral cooperation could contribute significantly to regional and international peace, stability, and security.
Addressing the atrocities perpetrated by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, Amir-Abdollahian detailed Iran's efforts to bring the Israeli occupation's aggression to an end and alleviate the suffering of Palestinians.
The Foreign Minister even emphasized the significance of persisting and expediting Tehran and Doha's joint efforts to achieve a political solution to end the Israeli occupation's genocide in Palestine, lift the blockade on Gaza, promptly deliver humanitarian assistance, prevent the displacement of Palestinians, and facilitate intra-Palestinian reconciliation efforts to govern Gaza and the West Bank in the aftermath of the war, including the reconstruction process.
On the other hand, Amir-Abdollahian criticized the contradictory approach adopted by the US toward the Gaza genocide, highlighting the US administration's support for Israeli militaristic actions, including attacks in Yemen, Iraq, and Syria.
On his part, the Emir of Qatar remarked that the ties between the two nations have never been closer and expressed gratitude for Iran's continuous diplomatic efforts in advocating for Palestine and its commitment to finding a political resolution to the war on Gaza.
Additionally, he shed light on Qatar's recent diplomatic endeavors aimed at achieving a ceasefire in Gaza and resolving several regional conflicts.
During their discussions, both sides explored ways to sustain collaborative efforts in supporting the Palestinian cause, ending the Israeli aggression, providing humanitarian aid to Gaza, and seeking a governance solution for Palestinians. They underscored the importance of further cooperation and coordination in these endeavors.
