Iraqi Resistance vows to expel US forces from Iraq, mourns 5 fighters
Sources tell Al Mayadeen that a US strike on Kirkuk has killed five members of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq.
Five members of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq have been martyred as a result of a US strike on Kirkuk, northern Iraq, informed sources told Al Mayadeen.
The Islamic Resistance in Iraq later mourned five of its fighters who "rose in the battle of right against falsehood, embodied by the American occupation forces in Iraq."
Moreover, the Resistance in Iraq affirmed that it will remain steadfast in its confrontations against its enemies, promising to intensify its attacks against the US occupation forces, until they are "expelled, humiliated, and defeated from" Iraq.
On his part, the director of Al Mayadeen's bureau in Iraq, Abdullah Badran, said it is still unclear to this moment whether the strike was executed by an American drone or a fighter jet.
Badran also revealed that the martyred individuals were being monitored, as their location at the time of the attack is close to an area where ISIS terrorists are known to be active.
On Saturday, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq announced that it had targeted the US base within Erbil Airport. The Resistance has heavily targeted US bases in Syria and Iraq in response to the direct US involvement in the Israeli war on Gaza.
Earlier today, a source told Al Mayadeen that unnamed Iraqi Resistance factions launched seven missiles at the US occupation base Kharab al-Jir base, which includes an airstrip.
On Saturday, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia al-Sudani confirmed Iraq’s position rejecting any aggression against Iraqi territory during a phone call with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Saturday.
During his call with Blinken, al-Sudani emphasized that the US attack on the Jurf al-Nasr area constituted a violation of Iraqi sovereignty, as indicated in a statement by his office.
Simultaneously, al-Sudani reiterated "the Iraqi government's commitment to safeguarding international coalition advisors present in Iraq," as stated in the release.
The Iraqi Presidency condemned the US bombing of the Jurf al-Nasr area on November 22, indicating that it was an unacceptable escalation and a violation of Iraqi sovereignty.
Moreover, the government denounced the US attack on the Jurf al-Nasr area, carried out without the knowledge of Iraqi government agencies, stating that it constitutes a clear violation of sovereignty and an attempt to disrupt the stable internal security situation.
