Palestinian cause among Iran's main strategies: Iran's Chief of Staff
In a meeting with Ismail Haniyeh, Major General Beghari confirms the centrality of the Palestinian cause to the Islamic Republic.
Supporting the Palestinian cause has always been among the country's main strategies, the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Bagheri told the head of Hamas' Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, during a meeting in Tehran.
Bagheri emphasized that this has been the case ever since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, adding that this year's commemoration of al-Quds Day will be "marked much more magnificently."
The top military official said that Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, which was launched by the Palestinian Resistance and was led by Hamas' military wing, al-Qassam Brigades, dealt the Israeli regime an irreparable defeat.
"This operation destroyed the myth of the invincibility of the criminal Israel and turned Palestine into the primary cause of the entire world," Major General Bagheri said, as quoted by Iranian news agencies.
He also pointed to the essential role that the United States has been playing in upkeeping the Israeli regime, underlining that it would have collapsed were it not for Washington's aid.
On his part, Haniyeh expressed his appreciation for the support offered by Iranian officials and the nation as a whole. He also hailed the efforts of the former leader of the Iranian Islamic Revolution's Guard Corps' al-Quds Force, martyr Qassem Soleimani, for supporting the oppressed people of the world.
On March 26, Haniyeh headed a delegation of top Hamas officials to Tehran, meeting with a number of Iranian leaders and high-ranking officials, including Sayyed Ali Khamenei.
The Iranian leader praised the "unique resistance of the Palestinian forces" against the "crimes and brutalities of the Zionist regime carried out with the full support of the West," stressing that the Palestinians' historical patience honored Islam.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate to support the cause of Palestine and the oppressed people of Gaza," Sayyed Khamenei said during the meeting.
