Armed Palestinian resistance factions announced a series of coordinated attacks targeting Israeli military vehicles in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis on Wednesday, as fighting continues amid the ongoing Israeli assault on the besieged territory.
The al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, stated that its fighters targeted an Israeli armored personnel carrier with a Yassin-105 anti-tank projectile on al-Mujamma Street in central Khan Younis. The group reported that the vehicle caught fire upon impact and that an Israeli helicopter later arrived to evacuate casualties from the site.
Separately, the al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, claimed responsibility for destroying an Israeli Merkava tank using two improvised explosive devices.
According to the group, the explosives were reverse-engineered from remnants of Israeli ordnance and detonated in the vicinity of al-Mars Street, also in Khan Younis. Fighters returning from the front lines confirmed the destruction of the vehicle.
Meanwhile, the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades said its fighters successfully struck an Israeli military vehicle with a high-explosive Assef 3 device in the town of al-Qarara, north of Khan Younis. The group did not specify the number of casualties but claimed the operation was carried out with precision.
Al-Quds Brigades bombard Sderot
The Al-Quds Brigades announced that they had launched a rocket bombardment targeting the Sderot settlement in the occupied territories, in addition to a complex ambush in Shujaiya.
The rocket force of Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of Islamic Jihad, announced on its Telegram channel Wednesday that it had targeted the Israeli city of Sderot, near the Gaza border, with rocket fire. Meanwhile, Israeli media reported that three rockets were detected being launched from Gaza toward Sderot.
In a similar operation, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, launched Q20 rockets on Tuesday at the Israeli settlements of Nir Itzhak and Mivtachim. The attack originated from an area near Khan Younis in southern Gaza, where Israeli military vehicles were deployed, according to a statement released on the group’s official Telegram channel.
Complex ambush leaves IOF casualties
The Al-Quds Brigades also announced today that they had carried out a coordinated operation, beginning with the detonation of a minefield targeting Israeli military vehicles advancing in the Huda Square area east of Gaza City's Shujaiya neighborhood, forcing soldiers and officers to take shelter in nearby houses.
The fighters then targeted the troops who had taken cover inside the houses, first with a guided missile, followed by an anti-fortification TBG shell. Afterwards, the fighters engaged Israeli soldiers in close-quarters combat using light and medium weapons, leaving casualties of both dead and wounded, according to a statement released by Al-Quds Brigades.
The group also announced it had captured an Israeli EVO Max reconnaissance drone while the aircraft was conducting surveillance over Khan Younis.
Meanwhile, the Al-Qassam Brigades also targeted an Israeli Merkava tank on Tuesday with a high-explosive landmine along the supply route of occupation forces in the Al-Zanna area east of Khan Younis, according to a statement released today.
