Pezeshkian: US, West double standards enable 'Israel' to commit crimes
Iran's president holds a phone call with the president of the European Council in which they discussed multiple issues, including Israeli war crimes.
Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian held a phone call with the president of the European Council, Charles Michel, on Sunday.
Pezeshkhian criticized the double standards employed by the United States and some Western states, which have "emboldened the Zionist regime to become even more aggressive" and threaten world peace and security.
The Iranian president saw that these policies have aided Israeli assassination and heinous crimes in the Gaza Strip, as well as in regional countries. He said that Israeli actions "pose a threat to the peace and security of the region and the world."
Enhancing Iran-EU relations
During the call, the president of the European Council expressed his desire to resume the talks on a possible nuclear deal, according to the Iranian Mehr news agency.
"If the two sides live up to all their obligations and trust is established, not only the revival of the nuclear agreement but also other issues in bilateral relations will be up for discussion," the Iranian president responded.
Pezeshkian also emphasized the necessity of establishing a stable multipolar world order, stressing that US sanctions and pressure, on countries such as Iran, prevent such an achievement and act as barriers to securing world peace.
On his part, Michel hoped that an effective engagement between the European Union and Iran could be established. He also emphasized the willingness of European countries to improve the level of relations with Tehran, Mehr reported.

Kanaani decries Israeli war crimes
On the continued Israeli war crimes and massacres, the spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Nasser Kanaani, said that these horrendous actions would not compensate the Israeli regime for the strategic failures it suffered since October 7, 2023.
"The [continuous] massacring of Palestinians showed the whole world the terrorist nature of the Zionist regime and the true face of the anti-human supporters of this criminal regime and [hypocritical] slogans of the US and some Europeans who claim to be advocates of the human rights," he affirmed.
Kanaani said that the massacres are being carried out with all-out support from the United States and some Western governments, which he viewed as a sign of the Israeli regime's imminent collapse.
The resilient and steadfast nation of Palestine, though burdened by grief and suffering, must remain patient, as "the dawn is near," Kanaani concluded.
