The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine has declared that stopping the genocide being carried out by "Israel" in Gaza is its highest priority, calling for an urgent national conference to forge a unified Palestinian position on the American proposal and its profound political and existential threats.
The PFLP stated on Thursday that the most urgent priority is to stop the genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, who have sacrificed and continue to sacrifice immensely in defense of their land, identity, and national cause.
Given the plan announced by Washington, with its conditions requiring study, and the ongoing massacres, displacement, and starvation backed by US support, the Front emphasized that "the Palestinian people are facing a historic responsibility that necessitates a unified and swift stance from all national forces."
The PFLP clarified that it is holding consultations with various Palestinian factions to convene an urgent national meeting to establish a collective and unified position, free from unilateral actions or the shirking of national responsibility.
The Front also stressed the critical need for a unified effort on the Palestinian, Arab, and international levels to halt the genocide and ensure the withdrawal of occupation forces and the subsequent reconstruction, while firmly adhering to national constants and the rights of the Palestinian people to freedom, return, and self-determination.
Concluding its statement, the PFLP asserted that convening a national meeting is now an urgent necessity to reach a unified position on the US proposal and the profound political and existential dangers within some of its clauses, which risk being exploited to reshape the political landscape at the expense of established national rights.
Trump unveils loaded Gaza ceasefire plan
On September 29, the White House unveiled the details of a proposed ceasefire for the Gaza Strip, asserting that the war would end immediately if both parties agreed to the terms, following a meeting between Trump and Netanyahu at the White House.
The plan stipulates that, should "Israel" accept the ceasefire proposal, all Israeli captives, both the living and the deceased, must be released within a 72-hour period, and if both parties agree to the terms, the war will end immediately.
According to the White House, the plan stated that if Hamas delays or rejects the proposal, the agreement, including a scaled-up aid operation, will proceed in what it described as "terror-free areas" that will be handed over from the Israeli occupation forces to the Israeli Security Forces.
Notably, the plan outlines that Gaza will be placed under a temporary transitional governance administered by a technocratic and apolitical Palestinian committee, which will be comprised of qualified Palestinians and international experts and operate under the oversight of a new international transitional body. This committee will be chaired by Trump, with its other members, including heads of state such as former Prime Minister Tony Blair, to be announced at a later date.
Furthermore, the plan envisions a future for Gaza as a "deradicalized, terror-free zone" that no longer poses a threat to its neighbors, a transformation it asserts will be achieved without Israeli occupation or annexation of the territory.
According to the White House, all military operations, including aerial and artillery bombardments, will be suspended for the duration of this period.
