Member of Hezbollah's Political Council, Mahmoud Qomati, affirmed that the movement remains fully committed to the path of resistance, describing it as the only viable option in the face of continued Israeli aggression on Lebanon.
In a statement to Al Mayadeen, Qomati stressed that the current escalation by the Israeli occupation cannot be tolerated.
Qomati underscored the importance of coordination with the Lebanese state in confronting these violations. He noted that joint efforts are ongoing to halt what he described as repeated acts of aggression against Lebanese sovereignty.
The member of the political council condemned the airstrike on Beirut's southern suburb, calling it a breach of yet another red line. He asserted that the attack was carried out with a green light from the United States, enabling a dangerous escalation in the region.
Targeting of a senior commander
Qomati revealed that the airstrike targeted a senior military commander within the resistance ranks. However, he stated that the individual’s identity would be disclosed at a later time, once the movement confirms the details with certainty.
Addressing the possibility of retaliation, Qomati said there would be no comment on statements made by the enemy. He explained that Hezbollah's leadership is currently studying the situation and will make the appropriate decision. He emphasized that "all options are on the table" following the latest attack, and that any response will be made at a time deemed suitable by the resistance leadership.
Ammar: Resistance will respond at appropriate time
Lebanese MP Ali Ammar, who represents the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc and the Baabda district where Beirut's Southern Suburb is located, visited the site of the attack and indicated that the Resistance will respond at the appropriate time.
He explained that "the Resistance is dealing with utmost wisdom and patience, and will confront this enemy at the appropriate time. We are in a full-fledged battle with the enemy, and we will set the time [for a response]."
The strike on a residential apartment in the Haret Hreik area of Beirut's southern suburb resulted in the martyrdom of five people and injuries to 28 others. The attack, part of a broader campaign of Israeli escalation, marks one of the most severe assaults on civilian areas in recent months.
