Former White House Trump Chief Strategist Steve Bannon has accused the Israeli government of attempting to drag the United States into a war with Iran, stressing that "they want us to go on offense" against Tehran. Bannon made the remarks on his War Room podcast on Friday, highlighting rising tensions following "Israel's" strikes on Iran.
Commenting on "Israel's" strategy, Bannon said, “If you're going to go alone, you can take care of your deal or not. You don't need us... They got it alone last about six hours. Not only do they want defense, they want us to go on offense.” He also emphasized that US involvement could compromise the “America First” policy and lead to entanglement in another Middle Eastern conflict.

Bannon, Carlson criticize pro-war voices
Bannon and former Fox News host Tucker Carlson both condemned American conservatives who pushed for immediate US airstrikes. Carlson criticized unnamed figures for “calling Donald Trump today to demand air strikes,” branding them “warmongers.”
“If you're going to do it, do it... Then why do we have to come and air defense?... This is how we get sucked in,” Bannon added, questioning the logic of risking American assets and lives abroad in support of a foreign military offensive.
In a similar context, former Pentagon adviser and retired US Army Colonel Douglas Macgregor issued a stark warning on Sunday, cautioning that a war with Iran could plunge the United States into a global conflict.
"War with Iran is likely to walk the United States directly into WW III. Let's avoid this!" MacGregor posted on X, as tensions reached a new high following a major escalation between the Israeli occupation and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

On US complicity
It is worth noting that the US was informed of the strikes on Iran, and despite claiming it is not involved in the assault, Iran stressed that the attacks were carried out with the American green light. Trump also repeatedly threatened Iran and vowed to defend "Israel".
Meanwhile, a US military official confirmed American forces helped defend "Israel" from Iranian retaliation but clarified that no US offensive strikes against Iran had occurred.
Iran has also repeatedly accused the US administration of approving the Israeli assault on its territories, with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stating, “From our perspective, the US is a partner in these assaults and must bear responsibility.”
He added that Iran possesses evidence confirming that US bases in the region supported Israeli strikes on Iranian territory.
