White House condemns Abu Akleh's killing, calls for investigation
White House Deputy Press Secretary says the US calls for "a thorough investigation" into the death of US-Palestinian Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh.
The White House strongly condemned Wednesday the killing of Palestinian-US Al Jazeera reporter Shireen Abu Akleh and called for an investigation into her death.
Earlier, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced the martyrdom of Abu Akleh, whom the Israeli occupation forces shot in the head with a live bullet.
The Israeli occupation stormed the Jenin refugee camp, north West Bank, and at the same time, journalists were covering the Israeli aggression.
"We call for a thorough investigation into her death," White House deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters.
The US... "Israel's best friend"
The US condemnation comes knowing that the US is the Israeli occupation's biggest supporter at all levels. In February, the Democrat-controlled House passed a resolution authorizing US budget dollars to fund “Israel’s” restock of its nearly depleted Iron Dome missiles.

In a speech to “Israel's” Parliament, the Knesset, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi vowed "ironclad" US support for the Israeli occupation. She specifically voiced her hope that the US Senate will soon adopt legislation to support the replenishment of “Israel's” Iron Dome air defenses.
The United States has obsessively included funds for the program in its overall federal spending on several occasions despite the opposition of members of the progressive wing of the Democratic Party, who consider “Israel” an “apartheid state” guilty of war crimes.
She went on to promise “Israel” assistance in various security areas, including the fight against Iran.
When the US House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly in favor of providing one billion US dollars to "Israel" to replenish its Iron Dome missile-defense system, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett thanked the members of the House for their “overwhelming support of Israel and commitment to its security."
On his part, Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid welcomed the approval of the US House of Representatives to provide aid to "Israel" and said, "Israel has no better friend than the US."
The US Congressional Research Service highlighted in one of its reports on "US Foreign Aid to Israel" that in 2016, the United States pledged to provide "Israel" with $38 billion in "military aid".
For the year 2022, US President Joe Biden's administration requested $3.3 billion in "Foreign Military Financing" for the Israeli occupation and $500 million in missile "defense" aid.
Rachel Corrie remembered...
In a similar context, the US seemed speechless when "Israel’s" Supreme Court exempted on February 12, 2015, the Israeli Security Ministry from liability for the Israeli occupation forces' actions in a suit seeking damages over pro-Palestine US activist Rachel Corrie’s murder on March 16, 2003.
After standing in front of an armored bulldozer, in an attempt to impede arbitrary house demolitions by Israeli forces, Rachel Corrie was crushed to death. Witnesses said the Israeli soldier operating the bulldozer saw Corrie and deliberately ran over her.
