Gunfire targeted an Israeli military checkpoint near the illegal Israeli Hermesh settlement on Thursday, according to field sources, in an incident that took place between Jenin and Tulkarm in the northern occupied West Bank.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Ramallah reported that a young man was killed by occupation forces' gunfire after allegedly opening fire on the checkpoint, while Israeli media claimed that an individual "fired toward the Hermesh checkpoint in Samaria (northern West Bank) and was neutralized, with no reported injuries."
The development closely follows intense Israeli raids on West Bank towns, which have wounded dozens of Palestinians and terrorized civilians across the territory, in addition to widespread demolitions and violations targeting Palestinian residents.
60+ injured across the West Bank in IOF raids
On June 10, Israeli forces carried out a large-scale overnight raid in the Old City of Nablus as part of their ongoing military operations across the occupied West Bank, breaking into multiple homes during the incursion.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent confirmed at least 15 Palestinian arrests during the operation, with the Palestinian Red Crescent documenting some 60 casualties, including tear gas inhalation and shrapnel injuries, during the Israeli forces' incursion.
The Red Crescent further reported that both a young man and a paramedic sustained gunshot wounds, while Israeli forces prevented emergency teams from reaching a critically injured individual.
Israeli forces killed former detainee Raeq Abdel Rahman Bsharat during June 11 raids in the town of Tammun, located south of Tubas in the occupied West Bank.
The occupation forces also detained at least eight Palestinians during the operation, including Murad Abu Haseeb, who was pursued, wounded, and subsequently captured, along with Abdullah Mahmoud Bani Odeh, who also sustained injuries during the raid.
'Israel' orders demolition of entire village
On June 10, Israeli authorities issued demolition orders targeting all 45 homes in the Palestinian village of al-Naaman, east of Beit Lahem, putting the entire community at risk of forced displacement.
Village council head Jamal Darawshi reported that Israeli soldiers entered al-Naaman at dawn on June 10, issuing demolition orders on all homes in what he described as the second round of collective notifications targeting the community within months.
Darawshi further explained that Israeli authorities had verbally warned the village council this could constitute the final notice before demolition crews would move in to begin immediate destruction of the structures.
He emphasized the severity of the situation by characterizing it as an existential threat to the entire village community of over 150 residents, predominantly comprising vulnerable women and children who would be displaced.
