Syrian Army takes down 3 drones, targets terror cell south of Idlib
Units of the Syrian Arab Army thwarts several aerial and ground operations launched by terrorists in Idlib and Quneitra on Thursday.
Units of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) took down three American-made unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from the direction of the Idlib and Quneitra governorates, the Syrian Ministry of Defense announced on Thursday.
"Units from the Armed Forces were able to take down three drones that belong to terror organizations in the countryside of Quneitra and Idlib," the Ministry said in a statement.
The statement confirmed that the UAVs launched by terror organizations were launched in attempted attacks on civilians populated villages and towns, as well as military sites in the region. Moreover, the Ministry explained that the drones are of American origin.
In another statement, the Ministry revealed that its units of the Syrian Arab Army in the south of Idlib's countryside thwarted an infiltration operation launched by al-Nusra-affiliated terrorists.
Combat units engaged the terrorists, who attempted to launch attacks on military points in the region, killing and injuring the militants while also arresting a member of the terror cell.

Earlier on Monday, Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Aleppo reported that the SAA thwarted an attack by Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) terrorists in the western Aleppo countryside, specifically at the Qebtan al-Jabal axis.
Our correspondent mentioned that the Syrian army eliminated three HTS militants and injured others during clashes.
The HTS attacks come amid escalating tensions in the areas under its control in northern Syria and amid the militants' attempt to diffuse the protests against the terrorist group in the city of Idlib, its countryside, and northern Aleppo.
On the other hand, the Syrian Arab Army has launched a series of operations in several governorates including Lattakia, Idlib, and Aleppo, striking multiple terror cells attempting to secure freed villages and towns. The work of the SAA's units began to intensify at the start of 2024 and since then the ministry has released several videos showcasing its operations and footage highlighting the training of special forces, including paratroopers.
