UN top court to hear genocide case against 'Israel' next week
South Africa has petitioned the International Court of Justice to urge that "Israel" halt its war on Gaza, which the occupation has dismissed "with disgust."
Following Pretoria's opening of a lawsuit for what it described as "Israel's" genocidal actions in Gaza, the UN's top court will hear statements from South Africa and 'Israel' next week.
South Africa has petitioned the International Court of Justice to urge that "Israel" halt its war on Gaza, which the occupation has dismissed "with disgust."
In a statement, the court detailed the ICJ "will hold public hearings at the Peace Palace in The Hague... in proceedings instituted by South Africa against Israel," on Thursday 11, and Friday 12 January.
"Israel" on Friday dismissed South Africa's launch of a genocide case against it at the International Court of Justice. Despite the sea of war crime evidence, the regime labeled the case as a groundless blood libel lacking legal merit and asserted that its army was adhering to international humanitarian law.
"South Africa is collaborating with a terrorist group that calls for Israel's destruction," a statement from the Foreign Ministry said. "The people of Gaza are not an enemy of Israel, who is making efforts to limit harm to non-combatants."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday accused South Africa of "cowardice" and falsehood in launching a genocide lawsuit against "Israel," claiming that the Israeli Occupation Forces [IOF] are the most "moral" army in the world.
South Africa's submission to the Hague-based court reads that the Israeli occupation forces [IOF] operations "are genocidal in character, as they are committed with the requisite specific intent to destroy Palestinians in Gaza as a part of the broader Palestinian national, racial, and ethnical group."
The country is set to present its case on Thursday next week, while Friday is set for "Israel" to present its defense.
The ICJ is anticipated to rule on the request within weeks, but the case itself might take months or even years.
Israeli Gaza genocide persists; death toll rises to 22,313 martyrs
The death toll of the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip has risen to 22,313 martyrs and 57,296 injured over the past 89 days.
Persisting with its genocidal war against the people of Gaza, the occupation committed 10 massacres against Palestinian families in the past 24 hours, resulting in 128 martyrs and 261 injured.
Earlier, Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Gaza reported the death of four women in an Israeli airstrike on the city of Hamad in Khan Younis.
Another martyr fell victim to gunfire from an Israeli drone in the Maan area east of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.
Additionally, a child was martyred after a school in Jabalia Al-Balad, north of the Gaza Strip, was targeted.
Shelling intensifies
The Israeli aggression intensified in the central Gaza Strip, where the occupation dropped phosphorus bombs behind the General Secondary School in the al-Maghazi camp.
The occupation also targeted the northern part of the same camp and the Palm Towers in the Bureij camp.
In the Bureij and Nuseirat camps, the occupation employed Quadcopter drones targetting densely populated areas igniting fire belts there.
The invading Occupation forces also fired artillery shells against the Maghazi camp.
Gaza City also witnessed Israeli shelling, targeting residential units in Al-Zawaida and east of the Shujaiya neighborhood.
Earlier today, Israeli occupation warplanes launched intensive airstrikes targeting wide areas in the central region of the Gaza Strip, Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Gaza reported, adding that the Israeli occupation forces carried out intense fire belts on the al-Nuseirat refugee camp in the center of the Strip simultaneously with a series of airstrikes.
