Prisoner Adnan enters 3rd month of strike amid poor health condition
PIJ movement official Sheikh Khader Adnan continues his open hunger strike for the 61st day in rejection of his arbitrary administrative detention.
The Palestinian Ministry of Detainees and Ex-Detainees on Thursday announced that prisoner Khader Adnan entered his third month of open hunger strike, amid a very poor health condition.
Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement official Sheikh Khader Adnan is continuing his open hunger strike for the 61st day in rejection of his arbitrary detention as his health condition deteriorates exponentially on daily basis.
In a statement, the Ministry of Detainees and Ex-Detainees indicated that Adnan suffers from serious complications, blurry vision, and hearing problems, as well as a decline in the performance of his digestive and respiratory systems.
The Ministry held the Israeli occupation responsible for the life of the prisoner, calling for immediate and urgent intervention to release him.
Israeli occupation postpones Adnan's trial until May 29
On Tuesday, the Israeli occupation postponed the trial of the hunger-striking prisoner until May 29, Palestinian media reported.
The Muhjat Al-Quds Foundation saw the Israeli court's decision as equivocal to the death penalty and completely neglects Adnan's hunger strike in light of a very critical health condition.
The foundation highlighted that Adnan is being kept in the Ramleh prison clinic in very harsh circumstances while the Israeli occupation is ignoring his rightful demands to end his arbitrary detention and grant him his freedom.
Last week, the foundation held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the life of the prisoner due to its procrastination in responding to his just demands for an end to his arbitrary detention.
It also appealed to all institutions working in the field of human rights, led by the International Committee of the Red Cross and the United Nations Human Rights Council, to intensify their efforts to save Adnan's life and to put pressure on the Israeli occupation to release him before it is too late.
Previously, Adnan said, in a message received by Muhjat Al-Quds, that his health condition is constantly deteriorating and that his hunger strike entered a critical stage:
"My health condition is constantly deteriorating, and since yesterday, my hunger strike has entered a critical stage; I began vomiting stomach acid, and my dizziness and imbalance increased significantly. I am unable to move without a wheelchair, and when I stand sometimes, I feel very dizzy and fear collapsing to the ground. I feel uncomfortable drinking water and suffer from a lack of sleep, especially at night. I suffer from back pain, and my weight has decreased significantly."
It is noteworthy that the prisoner Adnan was arrested 12 times, and he spent a total of about eight years in occupation detention centers, most of which were under administrative detention. During these years, he went through five previous strikes, including four strikes refusing his arbitrary administrative detention.
